The Media Specialist as an Information Specialist
Collection Development Plan
The Collection Development Plan is an example of the School Library Media Specialist as an Information Specialist. The plan includes a description of the site and learners. The collection was developed to correspond to the economics performance standards for 3rd grade with a focus on goods and services. I researched book vendors to maximize my budget. I also created a Glog to accompany my collection development paper.
Ethical Use of Information Storybook
The storybook I created about plagiarism is an example of the School Library Media Specialist as an Information Specialist. The story titled “Princess Penny’s Plagiarism Problem” was developed to teach young students about plagiarism and the consequences associated. The main goal of this book is to teach students that it is not okay to borrow someone else’s ideas without giving them credit. I hope that young students will learn from Princess Penny’s experience, and become learner’s that can generate their own ideas.
Reference Collection
This is the website that I created to show how I prepared an order for reference materials to be added to the current reference collection in the BUES media center. The website contains a list of the current reference collection, the purchase order for the materials that I feel would add value to the collection, a list of websites that would enhance the collection, and a list of the sources I used to review the materials. Digital Video
This digital video is an example of the School Library Media Specialist as an Information Specialist. The video was developed to inform and promote literature circles to 3rd-5th grade students. The video titled “Leaping into Literature Circles”, educates students on the components of a literature circle. Also, the video allows students to observe other students actively participating in a literature circle.
